Regret Me Not by Amy Lane

Beautiful, sweet, endearing. LOVED IT! It was tender as it was heart breaking and I have a feeling if we got Hal's POV and not only Pierce's it would have been heart wrecking! so maybe Amy did us a favor focusing on Pierce. I loved everything about this book, it felt a whole story even though it was quite short and though Pierce and Hal MIGHT be considered too different to form something real together - they proved it - it's not about age, it's not about status, it's not about occupation or even where you live - it's about companionship, compassion, acceptance, tenderness, trust. THESE things are what makes a couple PERFECT together. These two have it all.

Pierce Atwater is at the lowest he's EVER been. Unemployed and o his way to divorce is really the icing on the cake.. He is also recovering from a car accident which left him shattered outside needing A LOT of time for recovering. In pain, grumpy and depressed he spend his time in his sister's house until he realizes his mean behavior shouldn't be directed toward the one person he loves and appreciated best in his life. Packing his stuff he decides to spend the month before Christmas in a friend's apartment in Florida. The best thing about said apartment is the pool allowing him the physiotherapy he needs on his long way to recovery.

The Foxling Soldati (Soldati Hearts #2) [Rayner & Toka] by Charlie Cochet

Okay, this book KILLED me! It's not only held me on the edge of my seat, it left me with a nauseating stomach that wouldn't settle down until it was all finished! The book starts sweetly, with Raynar and Toka playing around, continue to Ezra (one of the Soldati "Royal Entourage" to King Khalon) prophesying a visit from the King of the Bear-Shifters going to end up VERY badly. You don't know the half of that!

The Soldati Prince (Soldati Hearts #1) [Khalon & Riley] by Charlie Cochet

This was more than I expected it to be! At first I was trying to figure our "what's going on?", and trying to find good virtue in the overly bossy and annoying Khalon when I caught myself truly caught (!) in the story. It was sweet and quite short, actually gave a good world building without interfering with the romantic part which while short as well was still enough for me. Really interested seeing where this series is going to go from here. There are enough hints at the next couple (and there IS a book of these two – my next read!)

Riley Murrough is an ordinary barista. His life isn't that exciting. But one night it all changes when Demons come to visit the café he works at. One minute he is finishing a few cakes left of the day the next he is running from his life only to be rescued by 4 HUGE tigers who later on transforms back to human form. Say what?! Not only that but as he is touched for a brief moment by one of the Demons a tattoo-like mark appears on his arm, one that makes the shifters take him away to their enchanted land.

Love in Retrograde by Charlie Cochet

WOW! Simply OUTSTANDING! Near midnight I realized I can't sleep so decided to start reading this one. I was actually afraid to start.. I don't usually like Sci-Fi (novels, movies, etc) but as I'm going through Charlie's booklist I decided to give this one a go and I'm so glad I did! I couldn't and wouldn't put this one down until I finished. WOW. What an emotional ride. It was SO not what I was expecting, though I'm not even sure what I DID expect.

I have very little I can say about this novel not to spoiler it. A word can destroy it for you and I really don't want to do that! We are in the future, New London to be precise. Kelly Sutton has been working on a special project called "Mars". Though he did a lot of work behind the scenes he actually doesn't know what this project IS or what it DOES or suppose to do. Yet he wants more, and as he decides to ask to be more involved he stumbles upon a conversation he shouldn't have heard making his wish come true - now he is SERIOUSLY involved in the project.

Worth a Shot by Cari Z.

Wow, I'm actually quite surprised how much of a REAL story we got for this short novella, though I AM reducing half a star because this could barely even be considered as a HFN.

Samara Wynne feels like she has found not only the best roommate for the other side of her duplex, but also the love of her life in Katie Hansen but though everything SEEMS perfect - them getting along, practically sharing a dog, spending time together including sleeping together, and yet something doesn't feel quite right about Katie insecurities, well, up until Sam finds herself facing the barrel of a gun. From there, everything she thought she knew about Katie and what she pictured her or rather their life together was about to change.

500 Kisses by Anyta Sunday

This one was great! Really liked it! Enjoyed getting the back and forth of these two, in their own voice and between one another.

Chris Montgomery and Dylan Halsworth are neighbors, at the moment not very friendly ones. When Dylan needs Chris' help he is reluctant to even ask but he doesn't have any choice. Though they grew up together several mistakes done by both of them tore them apart from best friends to close to enemies. To Dylan's surprise Chris actually accepts though he has his ulterior motives for his initial act.

Bird Meets Cage by Anyta Sunday

This was SO SO beautiful and yet heart breaking at the same time. I LOVED it though I felt a sort of agony the whole time waiting, wanting "Stardust" and "Floss" to find their to their HEA. They deserved it so much, they deserved each other! ~sigh~

This short novella is told solely from Nathan's POV. Nearing his 18th birthday when the circus is in town he works at the cotton candy stand. There he meets "Blue" a performer who takes his breath away, seeing him before he even knew his show name in his heart he calls him "Stardust".

Roses in the Devil's Garden (Fallen Rose #1) [Harlan & Nathan] by Charlie Cochet

I almost didn't finish this one. I've read half, got annoyed, decided not to continue then in the morning thought I should give it a full chance, after all it's quit short so.. Can't say it made me like this one better. But at least I sort of got the whole story. Thing is, it feels (and it ends) like a beginning of a new series. One that deals with issues that honestly don't interest me that much though I'm  probably in a minority here... I haven't watched any movie of series from the Prohibition times where the mob was stronger than the police or maybe the police was just a part of the problem with dirty cops all around. Harlan Mackay and Nathan Reilly are actually the good guys and though they have a hard time trusting the people around them - they have each other. BEWARE SPOILERS AHEAD!

Born of Darkness (Hunter Legacy #1) [Asher & Naomi] by Lara Adrian

I'll admit I have HIGH expectation from Lara. The Midnight Breed is one of my absolute favorite PNR series and the Hunters' stories is something I wondered about especially since "Deeper than Midnight" (Hunter and Corrine's book). I wanted to learn more about them, what they went through, to see them grow into independent men. In this one I felt we got a lot more of Naomi's story than Asher (which was mostly revealed to us in the end).

Asher have been living a life of mostly solitude since he was released from captivity. He had a human companion he lived with for years, but he died leaving Asher to live in his farm on his own. He doesn't mind that really but when he saves a young woman - Naomi, all that is about to change.

Kulti by Mariana Zapata

In one word - AWESOME. But clearly it's not enough for this lengthy novel. I loved EVERYTHING about this novel, especially how kick-ass our MC (and sole POV) Salome Casillas is! Not that Reiner Kulti isn't, but she knows how to put him in his place which was mostly HILARIOUS, the names she calls him! I DIED laughing. "Sauerkraut" definitely suits our grumpy German hehe

Sal is a professional soccer player, she has worked the past 20 years of her life to be the absolute best she can get. Her first inspiration was Reiner Kulti who took the world of Soccer in a storm when she was only 7 years old. Naturally she developed a HUGE crush on him, a crush that died first when he got married (even if only for a short while) and the second when he faced her brother (a soccer player as well) on the field. She isn't the kid she used to be anymore, but hearing the retired German player is on his way to coach her team - the Pipers - DOES rattle her.

Soul to Keep (Rented Heart #2) [Jamie & Marc] by Garrett Leigh

Heart breakingly beautiful. As I finished this one, I looked again on the cover and the name of this book and it clicked in such a way for me. The title is SO accurate. For both Marc and Jamie, it's that place they found in one another which allowed them to share their souls. What they went through in life left marks, some visible, but most of them invisible, they each needed to learn to put their trust and love in someone who might be unexpected but is the absolute best person to guard their hearts.

We've already met the two MC in this one. Jamie is Zac's best friend from the first installment "Rented Heart" and Marc appears in "Between Ghosts". It isn't necessary to read neither of them to enjoy this one as a totally standalone novel but I would recommend both of them as I do with every one of Garrett's books. Yes she is a bit sadistic with what she makes her characters go through but it's SO worth the journey we get with the characters and the best kind of a future she enables each one of them to get - in the end.

Smiling Irish (The Summerhaven Trio #2) [Tierney & Burr] by Katy Regnery

Outstanding! You know what's the best way to know if a book is absolutely GREAT? When you sit and read the WHOLE thing in one go. That's how this one went for me. I literally made ONE break to feed to dogs hehe (not being fed on time is a HUGE offense in this house). Tierney and Burr story, their romance, crushed my heart in the best possible way. I LOVED it! I loved the way it progressed, the sort of faith and belief they had in one another and in a better future. I loved how they saw the absolute best in one another and cherished it. SUCH a beautiful story.

In a way I have nothing to add hehe you should just go ahead and read it yourself and let us all be done with it! If you haven't read the first one you definitely SHOULD but it's not really a must. Tierney's way of life and the circumstances which brought Burr into her world made this one mostly about the two of them though her two brothers have enough appearances. Can I just add I can't wait for Ian's story?

I'm not really going to give up on writing a whole review! I have A LOT to say and I intend to say it! :)

April 2018 Reading List

Though last month was SO busy I have something to look forward to next month - just booked a mini vocation to London on May. It's going to be short and in the middle of too many things but it's still going to be a whiff of fresh air I need NOW, but I'll settle for a month from now.

I just started a new course, which will take me in a different direction. It's not a new profession, rather an extension of a current hobby. I'm really excited about that though I'll admit I'm scared s%#*less about the exam at the end. What I wouldn't give for a CLEAR indication of what's going to be on that one. I'll know more about it in the next two months (exam set for the middle of June. Yikes!)

In the meanwhile there is something that is not going to change - me reading. The next 2 to 3 months are going to be challenging study-wise but with enough reading I might pass all of it sanely ;) I know I have a hard time following my schedule but hopefully with all the exciting new releases I'll stick at least to them!

Happy Spring 🌷

Blue Blooded (Lord and Lady Hetheridge #5) by Emma Jameson

Though these kind of mystery novels aren't my usual go-to, Emma sure is! I SO enjoyed this book. I LOVE Emma's writing, the way a serious situation can always become hilarious with the right inner joke. Tony and Kate are great together. Their interactions are so sweet to read. Though this book and series in general isn't ABOUT romance, they are still, as a couple, the main focus of the story.

Reclaim (Under My Skin #3) [Elijah & Kam] by Christina Lee

Sweet and endearing story of best friends to lovers. Sometimes when I read a book a certain word pops out and keeps reappearing in my mind. In this one it was TENDER. Everything about these two, the connection they shared and the way everything progressed was SO tender. It was the way they treated one another, the way things easily flowed into a relationship they didn't even realize they are sort of having. It's the low angst and the comfortableness (if it's even a word) you feel around someone you love and trust. Yep, Tender is the word.

We've met both Kam and Elijah in the previous installments in the series though it COULD be read as a stand-alone with a few glimpses into the lives of the other couple mentioned in the 2 previous ones which are also MUST READS just so you'll know :) Where was I? yeah. So, Elijah works at "Doggie Styles" a dog day care, pretty close to his best friends's bike shop "Spin Cycle".

Under Locke by Mariana Zapata

I LOVED this book and frankly I couldn't be more surprised about it! I DON'T read MC books. Though I love motorcycles I came to realize a while ago that them and me, at least in books, don't mix and yet this book though was NOT my usual 'cup of tea' was impossible to put down, drawn me in, sucked me into the story, and kept me interested every step of the way (even though it's WAY longer than I'm used to in "regular" Contemporary Romance novels). So yeah, I'm a fan :)

Iris Taylor lived a very difficult life. Through her father abandoning her mother with her little brother, through sickness she fought and won, and a sickness her mother hasn't. Raising her younger brother when they are left alone in the world just the two of them after her grandmother's passing as well. Lucky for her there is another fixture in her life - her half brother Sonny. They might share a horrible father who abandoned all of them, but mostly they share a kind of relationship many siblings wish they had. So now, with her younger brother in the army, finding herself with no job to support herself, Sonny comes to her rescue, offering her a place to stay and also a possibility of a job, if only she can make herself work for the grumpy and mean Dex Locke, a Motorcycle member like her brother (and their father) something she loathes by definition as well as an owner of a Tattoo Shop.

Holiday Escape (#gaymers #2.5) [Tristan & Ravi] by Annabeth Albert

This was sweet beyond words! I SO enjoyed getting more of Ravi and Tristan. It'll be Christmas soon and if there is something both of them are NOT excited about is spending it with their friends and their families. It's not that they don't like their friends it's more they want the time for themselves. They had enough of their own families as it is..

Love Connection (#gaymers #3.5) [Josiah & Ryan] by Annabeth Albert

This is another sweet and free novella of Josiah and Ryan - the couple from the third installment. I loved this one! It was sweet and endearing and since I enjoyed the book and didn't want it to end, getting this snippet of their future was simply a TREAT.

Connection Error (#gaymers #3) [Josiah & Ryan] by Annabeth Albert

I literally read this book in one sitting. It was simply OUTSTANDING! and not only because of the sensitive issue it tackles.. but mostly because if you told me a bit about the two MCs in advance I wouldn't see any way these two could connect, and yet, they were simply perfect for one another. It's not the "opposite attract" as we had in the previous one, it's what ACCEPTANCE is made of. These two just got each other and accepted the "limitations" they each had, the seen and unseen ones. After that SO MUCH is possible.

We've met Josiah Simmons in the previous installment. He is the jumpy ADHD guy. He is sweet and endearing, have some sort of a crush on someone at the office but he is mostly someone to have fun with, enjoy a LAN party. It's very hard to take him seriously, on the job and off the job though he is very good at what he does. Which is why he is now appointed team leader and has to travel to Germany to meet some of his new team. Things SHOULD have gone perfectly, or so he hoped, but it all started with one grammatical error..

Beta Test (#gaymers #2) [Tristan & Ravi] by Annabeth Albert

I enjoyed this one, but I gotta say it took me time to warm up to both characters. Ravi and Tristan are more than opposites they also dislike each other, it's a turf I have an issue with. When you spend time mocking someone turning upside down to loving them? it could happen but me personally I might keep a sort of a grudge.. just saying..

Tristan and Ravi started working at "Space Villager", a company developing an online role playing game. They couldn't be more different and not only because they come from a different background professionally, Ravi being a graphic designer and Tristan from accounting.  Ravi an open gay extrovert, always surrounded by friends and Tristan who couldn't be more introverted and also a closeted gay..

New Status Needed (#gaymers, #1.5) [Adrian & Noah] by Annabeth Albert

This was a sweet short novella, the cover is a huge spoiler.. It's not a "turf" I care for but getting more of this cute couple was a sweet bonus. Adrian and Noah have been a couple for a few years now (though Annabeth doesn't specify exactly how many) and they are about to experience a VERY special moment in their lives.

Status Update (#gaymers, #1) [Adrian & Noah] by Annabeth Albert

This was SO sweet and beyond that, it was such a touching story. I was waiting for Noah and Adrian to find a way to truly keep each other and I gotta tell you - it wasn't easy!

I haven't been reading lately. Too much on my mind and very little time to just relax with a book so in a way I "made" myself sit down. Didn't know what to expect because I forgot to read the synopsis and since I haven't read any book by Annabeth I was totally going blind on this one and I was just HOOKED! Realizing Noah was living in a Motorhome was such a funny surprise as I've been investigating the subject lately. I wish I could connect with Noah if only to get his input on the matter hehe

Noah have been living a very solitary and conservative life. He is a professor in a Catholic College, at the moment at a sabbatical struggling to finish an academic book. His only true connection is with his dog Ulysses. He won't admit to being lonely but he is. When Adrian sort of stumbles into his life he is the EXACT thing he needed. It's more than just companionship it's a chance at love, something he vowed to reject, living his life in solitude.

Change of Heart (Change of Heart #1) by Mary Calmes

My issue with this book is something you either REALLY mind or you don't. If I had to name it using just one word I think "destiny" might help out but it's not just it.. Reading PNR books you are usually presented with a lot of situations in which people are "destined" to be together and so their attraction is either OTT or there's this "click" between them they can't shut off and here they are - a couple. While I CAN accept that in PNR books to some extent I don't like it. Heck, the MC in this book doesn't like the idea of being stuck with someone because that's how the "laws of attraction" works so why should I?

Jin Rayne is a werepanther but he's not just ANY werepanther, he is destined to mate with a pack leader (there's a special name for that "destined job"). That's is quite bizarre considering he is male and pack leaders is male "job". What kind of pack leader would want a man for a mate? Jin does his best to avoid any pack leader not only to NOT stumble upon his destined mate but also because he has a certain appeal because of his special "destiny" that makes him likeable to right around anyone who meets him (human or shifter). Though it's nice having most of everyone on your side it felt a bit "staged" and very "fake". While Jin was trying his best to stay in the side lines, wherever he goes people just want him to stay and almost worship his strange appeal. When meeting other shifters with other "destinies" (other "jobs") it become a little unbearable for me. I understand that shifters are not a real thing.. but I would like the story at least to feel realistic somehow. Alas, it wasn't.

March 2018 Reading List

March symbols the beginning of Spring, a new circle, new beginning. I'm starting to get used to my "new" schedule this year, but there are still so many things to work on and improve. I'm dreaming of a better tomorrow, or rather a better year, with plans and hopes I truly wish would come to pass.

I wish you - whomever is reading this - the best Spring ever and hope and wish for the time and the right kind of piece of mind to enjoy as many books as possible.

I always have too many books on my list. This month won't be any different. I plan for the best, but mostly I find myself putting aside ones I couldn't find the time to read or books I would rather put aside than finish. I just hope that the ones I DO read would be GREAT ones.

Ever After by Riley Hart & Christina Lee

I LOVED this one, thought it broke my heart to pieces too many times to count. This love story was SO beautiful and endearing and yet there was so much sorrow with two men who are destined to remain apart not only because of their difference in station but mostly because the combination of that with them being gay.

The feel of the story was simply incredible. I labeled this one "Contemporary" but it's not. It's a Fairy-Tale without the "magic" part or rather it's a timeless romance novel. There are things that might be considered "modern" but maybe not so much, there are things that are "missing" from modern times but they didn't feel necessary or even relevant. It really gave the whole story a special vibe that made it about the story, the couple, and not specifically of a time and place, which also made it more relate-able. It's not JUST a fairy tale, it's a story that happens and happened before and possible would keep on happening (until we evolve past labels and positions, hopefully..).

Fighting Irish (The Summerhaven Trio #1) [Rory & Britt] by Katy Regnery

Loved this one! What a sweet and endearing story! Loved both Rory and Britt as well as the beautiful setting of the Summerhaven resort. What we got of the other two of the Haven triplets - Ian and Tierney made me SO interested in seeing how THEY get their HEA.

Rory Haven grew up with his two siblings (triplets) Ian and Tierney in a beautiful resort were their parents (and grandparents before) welcomed  privileged kids for their summer vocation. One Thing their mother was VERY clear on was no fraternize with the guests. Rory, a good kid, did his best to stay away from the beautiful Brittany Manion so all they did was share stolen glances in the 4 years she went to the summer camp.

The Auspicious Troubles of Chance (The Auspicious Troubles of Love #1) [Chance & Jacky] by Charlie Cochet

I'm not sure why really but I didn't connect with Chance, our sole POV. He started with a lot of "telling" of his personal history and continued with not enough of "showing". Chance had a very difficult life, being unwanted for too many years and when he finally found himself everyone he cared about were tragically taken away from him. Not knowing where to go now he finds himself in the French Legion looking for a commander that is said to be able to make a "proper soldier" out of him. Same man will turn out to be a lot more than just his officer.

I'll admit I haven't read a lot of this one. After 25%, which isn't a lot page-wise considering it's not a long novel, I felt isn't for me. Chances' way of thinking, his general disposition towards life didn't appeal to me.. So I figured I'll just let it go..

    Lingus by Mariana Zapata

After reading "The Wall of Winnipeg and Me" I knew I needed to read more by Mariana, when I've heard she also own Great Danes there was NO WAY I wasn't scheduling all of her books ASAP hehe. This was Mariana's first book and I gotta say I really enjoyed it! :) I'm usually not that into long romance novels (unless they are of the PNR genre) but the "slow burn" works SO WELL with Mariana's writing.

This is a sort of "unlikely" romance story in which our sweet and in a way innocent young woman - Katherine Berger - falls for the porn star and he in turn falls madly with her as well. You would think it's going to be a kinky story but though there are jokes and sexual innuendos, this was a sweet story of a two strangers becoming best friends and little by little falling in love.

Bobby Green (Johnnies #5) [Vern "Bobby" & Reg "Digger"] by Amy Lane

This was NOT what I was expecting and I'm SO sad that this one didn't work for me as much as the previous ones in the series which were AWESOME. They were not what I was expecting in a good way considering "Johnnies" is a company which makes Porn.. I just had a hard time connecting with the story or rather with Vern and Reg and from what happened until I stopped I think it won't work for me further on.

I've read the previous installments two years ago, and though I remember I loved them, I don't remember too many things. It quite annoyed me frankly to have all those characters I remember yet I don't remember ENOUGH to feel comfortable with the setting. With Reg and Bobby, frankly I don't remember anything about them. So in a way it was like starting anew.

Brooklynaire (Brooklyn Bruisers #4) [Nate & Rebecca] by Sarina Bowen

It was sure worth it to wait for Nate and Rebecca's story :) I loved it to pieces and not only because I've missed this series so much! I'm not a hockey fan, it's not that I have anything against it, I just haven't actually SEEN a game in my life but through reading the books I SO wish I had someone to watch a game, any game, and help me figure out what's going on out there on the rink!

The story line of this book and the previous one ("Pipe Dreams") is very similar so you should know that reading anyone of them before the other would spoiler SOMETHING though mostly tidy bits. I didn't mind any of that really because even if you read this one as a stand alone (which you totally can!) it's obvious who's the couple in the previous one, and if you've read any of the previous ones you KNOW Becca and Nate MUST find their way to each other's arms. The only other spoiler refers to the state of the team which doesn't matter that much to the story itself so I didn't mind that as well.
